“Sudan… War and Ashes”: A Testimony from the Heart of Tragedy at a Seminar Hosted by the Sudanese Embassy in Cairo, Moderated by Prominent Journalist Magdy El-Dakka
The Embassy of the Republic of Sudan in Cairo, represented by its Cultural Counsellorship, will host a discussion and book-signing event for “Sudan… War and Ashes – My Testimony to an Era of Collapse” by Dr. Abdelaty Elmannaee, on the evening of Tuesday, August 26, at 7:00 p.m., at the Sudanese Embassy headquarters in New Cairo’s Fifth Settlement.
The seminar will be moderated by prominent journalist and writer Mr. Magdy El-Dakkak, in a cultural gathering that will explore the author’s experience, the themes of the book, and the testimony it offers on one of the most difficult periods Sudan has endured during the war, along with its profound humanitarian and social repercussions.
The book presents scenes and personal experiences witnessed firsthand by the author during the war in Sudan, shedding light on the humanitarian consequences of the conflict and the severe challenges faced by Sudanese society. Through a direct and deeply human testimony, the author seeks to document an important part of this painful chapter in Sudan’s recent history.
The event is expected to feature an open discussion about the book, the perspectives and testimonies it presents, and the importance of documenting events and preserving human memory during times of war and crisis. It will also address the role of culture and writing in safeguarding the collective memory of nations and peoples.
The seminar is being organized as part of the cultural activities of the Cultural Counsellorship at the Embassy of the Republic of Sudan in Cairo, and reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen cultural and intellectual ties between the Egyptian and Sudanese peoples
